Biography
STEPHEN TIPPING
MM MUSIC PERFORMANCE/BM MUSIC EDUCATION

Stephen Tipping is a percussionist, educator, arranger, and clinician known throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region for his excellence in marching arts, classical percussion, and jazz/world percussion. Stephen holds a Bachelors of Music in Music Education from the University of Delaware and a Masters of Music Performance from the University of Arizona. Stephen has performed across the East Coast, Arizona, Europe, Israel, and Puerto Rico.

In addition, Stephen is also an active performer throughout the region, having recently performed with the Delaware Symphony on their final concert of the 2018-2019 season. He is regularly seen with the original-rock band Captain's Daughter.

Stephen currently serves as Instructor of Percussion at Delaware State University (Dover, DE), Instructor of Percussion at Wesley College (Dover, DE), Caption Head of perennial TOB Chapter 9 Champions Caesar Rodney High School Marching Band (Camden, DE), and is on teaching faculty at The Music School of Delaware (Wilmington, DE).
His time in Tucson
From 2009-2011, Stephen studied at the University of Arizona in Tuscon, AZ as Graduate Teaching Assistant under Dr. Norman Weinberg. There, in addition to his duties as an undergraduate Applied Percussion & Percussion Methods instructor, he served as Director of the University of Arizona's premier Steel Drum Band, UA Steel. Stephen also had the distinct pleasure of performing as a soloist in the world-famous Biosphere 2 Research Facility and as a member of UA World Music Gang during their performance as a featured ensemble with UK Charts Top 100 Artist Calexico.
